Volunteers and the individual they are matched with can do lots of activities around Shetland, experiencing something new, going somewhere they have never been before or learning something new.

The types of activities that you can take part in are:

  • Sports activities like badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis, swimming, the gym, health suite, golf and football
  • Arts and Crafts e.g. attending workshops, visiting galleries, Aa Fired Up or making use of the Scheme's arts and crafts boxes
  • Visiting places of interest around Shetland including visiting museums and heritage centres, beachcombing and going to archeological sites
  • Going for coffee or lunch, and having a chat
  • Going to the cinema
  • Baking or cooking
  • Playing board games or making jigsaws
  • Walking the dog

The list is endless.

It is all about having fun and trying new activities.

The scheme also offers regular group sessions for volunteers and service users to meet and experience an activity together. The types of activities undertaken include:

  • Trip to the Pantomime
  • Boat trip around Bressay and Noss
  • Visit to the Lifeboat Station
  • Cake Decorating
  • Group Meals Out
  • Ceramic Painting
  • Canoeing and Abseiling
  • Trampolining
  • Climbing Wall Taster Session
  • Archery Taster Session
